1. Formula Sourcing & Mathematical Verification
Every calculator deployed on Life Calculators begins with a rigorous literature review. We reference established statutory guidelines (such as IRS publications, ISO standards, and central bank regulations) and authoritative mathematical texts.
2. Floating-Point Precision & Rounding Policy
Standard binary JavaScript math can introduce subtle IEEE 754 precision errors (such as 0.1 + 0.2 = 0.30000000000000004). To ensure total numerical integrity:
- Financial calculations use scaled integer math (cents/fractions) or exponential decimal shift algorithms.
- Rounding policies are explicitly declared on each calculator page (standard half-up rounding or statutory truncation).
- Zero-division safeguards prevent invalid mathematical operations from rendering corrupt outputs.
3. Automated Unit & Integration Testing
No calculator is published without an accompanying automated test suite executed in Vitest. Tests specifically validate:
- Normal operational inputs across standard domains.
- Boundary conditions (zero, minimum allowable inputs, maximum allowable inputs).
- Leap year mechanics, calendar month lengths, and daylight saving time transitions.
4. Client-Side Worker Sandboxing
All calculations run locally inside the user's browser thread or Web Worker. This provides instant sub-5 millisecond response times without communicating user numbers over the public internet.
